powertrainhone convinces customers with its competetive advantages
Modular Machine Product Line from Gehring evolves into a Bestseller
powertrainhone, the innovative honing machine generation from Gehring, is on the way to becoming a bestseller: since the world premier about a year ago, numerous engine manufacturers have decided on the trendsetting, modular configured machine system. Premium manufacturers such as Audi, Daimler and VW, along with international automobile producers and suppliers such as Huatai (China) and MAG (USA) are among the new users.
powertrainhone will be a highlight of the International Metalworking Exhibition (AMB) which will take place in September 2008 in Stuttgart.
With powertrainhone, Gehring offers the most modern technology for honing machines currently available, which is a generation ahead of the worldwide competition. Optimized processes and high performance drives lead to higher processing and operation speeds thereby setting the benchmarks for profitability and performance: compared to modern honing systems using conventional concepts, the cycle times can be reduced by up to 30 percent. Higher stroke speeds up to 50 m/min and rpms up to 2000 U/min are possible. The result saves energy, and a substantial reduction in life cycle costs is possible. The fast and efficient tool change system with up to 24 tools offers additional flexibility for honing different part types or multiple process operations.
In addition to the convincing performance data, the product design team at Gehring placed importance on proven and reliable components that are readily available. The Gehring optimized ball screw has a life of approximately seven years in a three-shift operation. This equates to an average product cycle in automotive manufacturing. The spindle unit with electrical mechanical stroke is designed so compactly that the machine height is less than four meters. This provides for easier, faster, and less costly maintenance. The spindle unit can be used for all Gehring hone processes and procedures. In addition to conventional honing, the Gehring patented laser honing and position honing or fluid micro-finishing are also possible.
One of a kind: modular design enables tailor-made machining centers
powertrainhone is the continuation of the modular design that Gehring initiated with the lifehone-product line. The trendsetting machine generation encompasses standardized functional components that can be combined to create tailor-made machining centers. This groundbreaking design enables completely new independence and flexibility in production. The modular design allows production to be expanded at any time. For this reason the customer can always stay up to date technically and use every competitive advantage.
The powertrainhone is tailored to the machining of engines in the automotive manufacturing industry. A stroke of between 500 and 1000 mm, and cylinder bore sizes of 68 to 125 mm diameters can be machined. Additional sizes will soon enable the machining of large engines with cylinder bores up to 250 mm diameter.
Double Trade Shows in September 2008
These two innovative machine concepts take center stage at Gehring’s appearance at the International Metalworking Exhibition (AMB) from September 9 – 13, 2008 in Stuttgart. „Live“ demonstrations of the lifehone product line and extensive information about the powertrainhone will be presented. Furthermore, possibilities for converting and modernizing will be demonstrated which will emphasize the guaranteed future of the concept. Parallel to the AMB, the Production Technology Colloquium (FtK) will take place on September 11, 2008 at the International Congress Center Stuttgart (ICS) where Gehring will present innovative manufacturing processes for economical superfinishing of cylinder bores. At nearly the same time, the world market leader for honing machines will be present with its subsidiary Gehring LP at the IMTS in Chicago between September 8 – 13, 2008
