Gehring wins training prize – 2006
Machine producer Gehring in Ruit always attaches great importance to the training of young people in the best possible way in order to enable them for a good start into their future.
For its great commitment in professional training the enterprise Gehring GmbH & Co. KG received the “Training Prize 2006”.
Without a sound apprenticeship young people have bad or only little chances on the labour market. Therefore junior employees at company Gehring receive qualifications that makes them fit today for the requirements of tomorrow.
By means of the competition “Training Prize 2006” launched by the Volksbank Esslingen, the regional newspaper Esslinger Zeitung, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the District Workman Association of Esslingen, the engagement was now honoured:
The machine producer won the first prize in the category “enterprises with more than 50 employees”. The exemplary working conditions, the innovative training methods, the great efforts of the trainers, the good marks of the trainees during their final exams and the high takeover quotas convinced the jury.
Altogether 39 companies from the region took part in the competition. With the training prize the initiators intend to honour the engagement in the professional education and to motivate companies to put more efforts again into the training of young people.
Company Gehring is not only engaged in job training for young people but also in job orientation. With one’s advice and support Gehring guides young people who are looking for the right profession – like the “Girls Day”, the “girls future day” organized by the Ministry of Education. On days like this companies open their doors in order to give schoolgirls an authentic inside view into technical jobs which up till now where not chosen by women very often.
On April 27th 12 schoolgirls, thirsty for knowledge, visited company Gehring in Ruit where they had the chance to get to know the high-tech world of machine production and also exciting job fields in theory and practice. After the motto “Learning by Doing” they built their own pneumatically control and wrote a CNC-program where with help of the CNC-machine a deceptive authentic world-championship cup was produced – however out of steel and not out of gold.
