Positive Personnel Management: Gehring secures future success through training and ongoing education

The saving of personnel costs is no panacea: The long-term success of small to medium-sized businesses is based usually on sound teaching and permanent ongoing education for the employees. Gehring GmbH & Co KG, the world market leader in engine treatment by applications of honing machines secures sales turnover and jobs through qualification.

“Highly qualified employees are the most important capital element of our business enterprise. Investments in their training and ongoing education are therefore investments in our future”, comments Dorothee Stein-Gehring, Managing Director of company Gehring. Every year this medium sized business is training new employees in industrial, technical and commercial careers. In this year alone, 9 trainees are starting their career at Gehring. All together Gehring employs 490 employees in Germany, and worldwide nearly 900. The focal point of personnel management at Gehring is that after the formal training process is completed, ongoing training is still practiced: “For generations further development of our employees has been our recipe for success,” underlines Dorothee Stein-Gehring. The machine factory is offering over 130 seminars with a wide spectrum of specialities to their employees. Amongst them are training sessions of various kinds regarding honing technology, idea management, construction methods and also language courses, i.e. Chinese. Since 20 years, Gehring has been a pioneer on the Chinese market.
Flexibility and ongoing education on all levels are key conditions for market orientation and accountable management. Therefore Gehring has worked out a programme in co-operation with a well known training institute by which management- and production qualification on top level of management is being enlarged.

With their complex engagement for teaching and ongoing education company Gehring clearly stands up for production being located in Germany. Dorothee Stein-Gehring: “The best way to manufacture is still here in Germany. Real net output is the highest, the training is better, the employees are motivated.”
